Norton Crypto shows that it is active but the Ncrypt binary process is not actually doing anything when looking in task manager and the hash rate on the wallet says idle, even after sitting idle for 24 hours. As far as my system is concerned it's just a green screen and not actually doing anything. Please advise as to what is going on. Thanks!
This is the same EXACT problem I've been having. Never calculates the hash rate and never seems to mine anything!?!?! Would love to see a solution to this issue.
My Platform:
Intel NUC NUC8I7HVK Mini PC, Intel QuadCore i7-8809G Upto 4.2GHz, 32GB DDR4, 2TB Samsung 970 NVMe SSD, AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH, WiFi, Thunderbolt 3, 4k Support, Windows 10 Pro (32GB Ram + 2TB SSD).
@Gayathri
I upgraded this morning and let it sit idle all afternoon and here are screenshots showing that it's not doing anything still.
Hi @jalexmason,
Could you please update to Norton Security 22.21.9.25 and let us know the experience? Thanks.
-Gayathri
I have updated to the hotfix, newest version, the binary shows it's on the gpu but portal says it can't find my rig (again) and the binary is completely idle no matter what I do. Any help would be nice here
Hopefully Someone at Norton support sees this. So the latest change in behavior is that after sitting for a couple of weeks idle, the wallet is not showing any status at all. It used to say IDLE but now it won't find anything at all.
The App is still running (well, just existing like before)
And miner shows active on UI
So can someone please explain this as it makes no sense at all! Not ready to hit the "Scam" button but really this does not look good for Norton no matter what way you look at it.
I have the same behavior. It seems to be doing nothing. There is no CPU usgage. There is no GPU usage.
I have 2 GTX 1070 over SLI. This could be mining at a significantly higher rate. Or Any rate for that matter.
Tried the full removal and reinstall and still not working. I also turned on the process monitor for the card and the norton apps are not even showing as trying to run on the GPU (the 1% spike in the GPU was from me taking the screenshot)
At this point the app is obviously not functioning and either there needs to be a firewall rule in place on my network or this app is far from being ready to be released and should be rolled back.
If there are any actual Norton support folks actually watching these forums it would be nice to hear back from someone as now this is a puzzle that I want to solve and not just uninstall Norton forever.
You can try doing a complete removal of Norton360 and then a fresh install.
I do not know if that will solve your issue but at least it will eliminate any problem with something being set up incorrectly.
I hope you are reading some of the other threads in this Crypto forum where many are giving up saying it is not worth it.
I do understand your desire to mine and get your crypto program running but this might be a good time to reevaluate your needs.

Yes I am on the latest 22.21.6.53 and running on the traditional live update channel. For Nvidia drivers I am using 471.68
As you say it is running in Task Manager but with no apparent usage. Have you tried to run LiveUpdate several times and restarting your PC? Are you running the latest version of Norton 360?

Nvidia 1050 8GB. Anything less than their min spec the option isn't even available to start mining. I have the option but it does nothing. 0% GPU usage all the time. No network traffic other than a heart beat every few seconds
What video card do you have? You need an Nvidia card with at least 6GB of memory.
Norton Crypto is using your GPU not your CPU and only when idle.
