Hi all,
In the last months I have had quite some trouble with a database called 'SQL'. I use this SQL database together with Hold'em Manager 2 (HM2). When I start HM2 it will connect automatically with my SQL in order to store data while using HM2. I bumped up to a problem a couple of times, in which HM2 was not able to connect to my SQL. Now, I have tried a lot of steps and none of these seems to work out, that is, from HM2's point of view.
I had a technician fixing a problem a couple of times and it always worked for a short time. This week, this person was here again and he remembers me and this time was looking to the cause of the problem. He found out that something on my computer was deleting empty folders in the SQL program. We were going through all my files (which aren't much because it's a new computer, which I solely use for work and poker). Then we came to the conclusion that only 2 programs are eligible for deleting programs without really asking:
- Norton Antivirus
- Windows Defender
Now I know that Norton Antivirus has multiple times given a warning that HM2 and SQL are used by fewer than 5 people from their customers. So it sounds logical that Norton is suspicious about these programs and takes action without consulting me and thinking they do a right thing.
HM2 is aware up to a certain point about this and has provided us steps of how to 'accept' these programs under 'Antivirus' and 'Firewall' (so low protection and allow these programs). However, I am afraid it will not stop there and Norton Antivirus will keep deleting these files and in effect, I will not be able to access my SQL database.
Is someone aware of this problem? If so, does anyone have a solution to this problem? I would very much like to hear from you.
Cheers,
Hesticus
