Lots of things can cause this error (applications, resetting your computer while it's working). I have a couple of followup questions;

1. In the test results for drive _, screen what does the Index section report?

2. When you select the details screen, what is listed in the Index section?

3. What type of file system (this is listed at the top of the details report).

4. Does the problem occur every time you run Disk Doctor?

Thank you,

Robert

Robert:

This is what it shows.  That is what happens after I run the offline repair on a reboot.  The power did go out a few days before this, with no storm, so it was unexpected.

Is this fixable?  I am going to install a new hard drive and clone my C drive to it, as it is so old.  I would like to have it be correct  :)

Everything I've read about this error indicates it can be created from something like a power failure. If you're not having other symptoms of a hard drive failure (unhealthy sounds coming from your disk drive, lots of errors, pc crashesly, etc.) then it's probably not a big deal and very correctable. Of course it is always good to have a current backup and I high recommend you backup your disk if you haven't already:)

I would just have Disk Doctor fix the error by doing what it says under the 'Indexes' section of the readout you provided in your last message. In other words, select the "fix errors" checkbox and rerun Disk Doctor. It should handle it.

If DD doesn't fix it, an alternative method for correcting the error is to run the windows 'chkdsk' command with the /f parameter. Do this by selecting the Start button in Windows, then select run, type cmd, and then when the command window comes up type;

chkdsk /f

The /f parameter tells chkdsk to fix any errors it finds. It will take a few minutes but you should be in good shape at that point. Let me know how it goes and good luck!
