Hi,
We have Norton Family installed on child's iOS devices. We tried installing Norton 360 on the same device. After that 'Family app' keeps alerting that protection is disabled because VPN is not enabled. If I switch the VPN over to Norton family, it won't stick for long.
Are we supposed to install both apps on the same iOS device?
Thanks,
Bibin
Thank you @Andrew_Davis
So to follow your advice, @batmanbibin will want to keep the Norton Family 'VPN' active and turn off the Web Protection feature in 360.
Hi @batmanbibin/@peterweb,
You can install both the apps on the same iOS device, but only one VPN can be enforced at a particular time. Since, Norton Family's protection includes the Web protection feature provided by Norton 360, our recommendation is to enforce Norton Family VPN at all times.
Since Norton Family VPN enforces policies based on the house rules that you have configured for your child, it protects your kid from accessing the restricted websites and categories on Safari and other browsers. Turning off the Norton Family VPN will stop monitoring your child outside the Norton Family app.
Thanks and Regards,
Andrew.

Can you comment on my hypothesis that the onboard VPNs in 360 and Norton Family provide the same function, and that it would not matter which one is active to protect the device?
This is just my hypothesis. The on device VPN in 360 is used to provide the Web Protection feature. The on device VPN in Norton Family may be for the same protection. So it may not matter which of these on device VPNs is active, if they both offer the same protection.
I see that Norton employees post here often, so maybe one of them can verify my hypothesis.
You should be able to install both 360 and Norton Family on the same device.
I'll ask this thread be moved to the Norton Family forum board for better exposure.
EDIT
I just installed Family on my iPhone and I see what you are seeing. What is happening is that both Family and 360 apps install an on device VPN. When you install 360, the Web Protection feature that is installed as an on device VPN seems to take precedence over the Norton Family on device VPN.
Hopefully when this thread gets moved to the Family board, someone that has been using the Family app can make suggestions for you.
