Norton Family Premier Time Locks and usage Tracking

Hi, our two children (aged 8 and 11) had Samsung Galaxy Notes for Christmas. I have installed Norton Family Premier on both tablets to set up parental controls and can access the parent site via my laptop, mobile and iPad mini. My issue is that the time locks are not working, nor is the time logging. I have them set to block access between the hours of 6am and 8pm and to lock the tablet. I also have set limits of 3 hours a day for the holiday period.  The children are able to access the tablets at any time (they are not disabling NFP) and I am not seeing any time logged at all. I have scoured the forums and internet for a solution but the posts mostly seem to relate to PCs and user accounts.

Can someone also tell me if the video tracking is supposed to pick up videos played on YouTube?

Thank you for any help.

IneyP,

My response is in regards to your final question about the tracking or logging of videos watched on YouTube. As a premier member, yes, it should log links to videos viewed by your monitored pc’s, etc. you can view the links under the video tab when you login to NF. The problem is it hasn’t worked for me for quite a while. It used to work. I don’t remember when it stopped but its been a good couple weeks.

I made a post in this forum about it but the solutions offered have not worked. I am curious to know if this is a widespread problem for premier members or isolated to a few.

Anyway, good luck & I hope there is a fix or resolution soon.

Hi IneyP,

Android client does not support time supervision. Time supervision is only for Windows/Mac clients.

May I know which Web browser do you use to view videos from youtube? The latest version of Firefox is not yet supported for video monitoring, but we support IE & Chrome.

Thanks,

HarryP

Both google chrome & IE here.

Harry,

Is the YouTube video logging an issue for other premier members? It used to work fine. Both my pc’s and browsers. Shortly after update, nothing since. Is it possible it is your product? You guys seem to always point the problem back to the user (customer).

Hi HarryP and Maxcrowbar

Thank you both very much for coming back to me. Harry, I was slightly niggled by the fact that I couldn't set the time locks on my iPad as I need flash (and of course iPads don't support flash) but I was able to set the locks on my laptop. Now I am extremely frustrated to find that while NFP is marketed as being suitable for tablets, not all of the features work on android. I work in IT, know what I should be looking out for and therefore did extensive research in finding a product to protect my children.  It has to be said that there is surprisingly little out there for the android tablet and not wanting to lock my kids down entirely, NFP fitted the bill for me, but nowhere suggested that some features don't work on android.  Please feed this back to the right people at Norton.

With regard to which web browser is being used, like MaxC, we are all using ie and chrome.  No YouTube video browsing is being recorded.

thanks
