I recently updated Firefox and when I restarted, Norton (which I get for free through Comcast) is now asking for an activation pin out of the blue. It has not asked for me this pin previously, but now it is. I tried to get the PIN through Comcast but they only had instructions on how to recover it by finding a .txt file on a PC. I did not see a similar .txt file on my Mac (despite looking in the folder and searching as well). How do I get the activation pin that allows Norton to work for me as I am a Comcast subscriber and supposed to get it for free? Thank you!

Hi Stiku,
I volunteer on the Comcast Forums as well as here on the Norton Forums. I believe you may have misunderstood goosegossage's question. They already have the program installed - they ae trying to activate it - it is looking for a PIN number (product key).
I understand the Norton for MAC program is handled differently than the normal PC Comcast Norton. The user's basic question is "Where on a MAC system is the PIN/Product Key text file located."
We know the following info on a PC and that is what Comcast Customer Srvice told the user.
Your PIN number is stored in Norton Security_PIN.txt in the following location:
In Windows 7 or Windows Vista: C:\Users\Users Name\My Documents\Symantec\Norton Security_PIN.txt
In Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<Local User>\My Documents\Symantec\Norton Security_PIN.txt
Why can't you provide the path for a text file that contains a PIN/Product Key text. Am I missing something?
Yank is correct. Program is already installed and was working fine. Now it is asking for an activation pin which it did not previously. On the PC, it is stored in a file. I need to find the similar file on the Mac but could not even after searching. I had a long webchat with an Xfinity representative and they said to contact Norton to resolve this.
Like Simon said,
You will have to contact Comcast to get your PIN. Windows activation is different.
