I am trying to upgrade my 80 GB HDD (Hard Disc Drive) to a 200 GB HDD in the same computer. The 80 GB HDD has 2 partitions, D: has program applications and C: has OS.
I have Norton Ghost 10 on a Win XP Pro system. I have successfully copied my D: Partition using Copy disk, all is there and all is well on the new larger HDD. When I try to copy C: drive (my system disk with Win XP Pro installed as the OS) it fails. It takes nearly an hour to work, and says it is "done" and complete with no errors. But there are NO files copied at all!!!
I reboot and still no files. I tried to power down, disconnect my original C: and in the BIOS designate the new larger HDD as the disc to boot from, but there is no OS so the system cannot reboot. I reconnect the old original C: and it boots fine, but the new hard drive has no data on it.
I have done this twice. I have spent over 2+ hours on it and I am tired of it.
I can find no solution on the web.
How can I copy the C: drive to a larger Hard Disc Drive and boot from it? I have followed all directions, including copy MBR to the new drive (for C: only, no MBR on D:). Again, the D: partition copied no problem. The C: partition copies NOTHING, but takes an hour to do it. What a waste of time!
Thanks
Mark
