It would suggest to me that there is a problem reading the boot drive. If this was me, I would do the following.

1. I would run chkdsk /f forced to run on a reboot i.e. run before the OP is up and running.

2. I would run chkdsk /f from the recovery console. (i.e. get to a prompt screen using the recovery or original DVD.

3. I would run erro checking from properties (right mouse click the drive under Explorer.

4. Next I would consider if this is a SATA drive. If yes, it is worth checking and/or changing the cable. Many are not good quality.

When you have a good backup, I would run defragmenter - not because it needs defrag'ing but because this too will show up errors. I would then look for manufacturers harware diagnostics. So find the make of your hard drive and see if they have tools.

I would also see if your drive is SMART compliant and if you can load and run SMART software - again to check for issues.

It is working now after I checked the box to ignore bad sectors during copy.

I guess this means  I have something wrong with the drive

I have run chkdsk /f and chkdsk /r from the recovery console and on bootup and I get the same error.

Has anyone had to check the same box?

This all only goes to confirm that you have a problem with your HD, "C".

Ignoring bad sectors works because the prog literally ignores the faults on the hard drive. Yes, I have had to check the same box when I had a bad HD.

Since you "get te same error" then this means the chkdsk utility also falls over when it cant read the sectors. However, I must admit I am surprised that with the /r command chkdsk does not then mark those sectors or blocks as bad and enter them into the bad block table.

I would try now to get tools from the manufacturer of the hard drive.

At the end of the chkdsk utility is it reporting bad blocks?

When you ignored bad sectors, am I correct that Ghost then failed to advise which bad sectors it finds? If so then you have no idea what data/prog is corrupted and your backup is not stable or complete.
