Hi Ghostnewbie - The error message doesn't translate very well in babelfish.yahoo.com but the fact that it is referring you to the help / user guide makes me think you don't have security permissions to run Ghost. Try using the Security Configuration Tool to make sure you have privileges to Ghost. You'll find the Tool in your programs menu under Programs|Norton Ghost|Security Configuration Tool.

Regards,

RR

I started "D:\Programme\Norton Ghost\Agent\SecurityConfig.exe" (Security Configuration application)

Are these rights ok?

This problem disappeared when this problem was solved:

I know this was posted ages ago but I have had exactly the same problem with Win XP and both Ghost 12 & 14 and could not find an answer anywhere so I though I might post the solution here (found through trial & error) since Symantec doesn't seem to know how to fix it! This cost me a hell of a lot of hours so cheers Symantec for not helping!

The problem is with the security descriptors on the hard disk. Everything looks all fine & dandy in windows but schedule a full scan disk & reboot you PC. Scan disk takes a while but you should see in the report at the end that windows repaired security descriptors in the process. Now you need to uninstall ghost completely, reboot, re-install, reboot and the problem magically goes away.

The live-update pack does nothing to fix this problem which is lovely - potentially in future Norton Ghost could actually check this sort of thing for us?????

For me this specific problem was somehow related to an erroneous configuration of the component services. When trying to follow the advice given in https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=111&message.id=1898, I noticed that the component services window disappeared when clicking on Component Services > Computers. This led me to follow the advice given in http://www.technipages.com/nothing-happens-when-opening-computer-in-component-services-disappears.html, more specifically the second part in which the Windows components had to be re-installed, which made the E1AD3212 error disappear.
