Norton Ghost 15 + Windows 7 32bit = Restore Fail

Hello all,

I was trying to backup and restore my windows 7 (32bit)

Overview

  • Norton Ghost 15 (bootable cd) to backup and restore
  • bootable cd > backup/restore my c drive to/from an image > image saved on an USB external drive
    • source hard drive 2TB drive
    • destination drive is another identical 2TB drive

Issue

  • Upon restore the driver does not boot up.

Steps

  1. insert bootable norton ghost 15 cd
  2. selected the partition that i wanted to backup c and system reserve

  • Saved it to the external usb drive

  1. Started BACKUP
  2. 2 images clone images files were on the external usb drive
  3. Replaced the source drive with the destination drive in the desktop
  4. rebooted with the cd
  5. started RECOVERY
  6. Added the c drive image  to the restore option

  7. click edit to be sure to delete all the partitions on the destination drive so it's all unallocated space
  8. Be sure that the following settings were enabled
    • Parition Type : Primary
    • Enable : Set drive active
    • Enable : restore original disk signature

  9. Restored
  10. rebooted
  11. result
    1. Bootmgr is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

Obviously I'm missing something.  It's odd as windowxp worked following steps above correctly.  (yes i know 7 and xp are different).  Just frustrated on a software that should make it relatively no brainer.

what am I doing wrong?
