Norton Ghost transferring OS to new HD help

Hello,

I received Norton Ghost today and a new, bigger HD. I thought it would be easy enough to install Norton ghost, back up my system, and restore it on my new HD. But...apparently it's not.

First off let me say that I am not incompetent when it comes to computers, but I am by no means a computer wizz. All of your help and patience is much appreciated.

I plugged in my new HD and partitioned it, called it E: drive. I have it hooked up via a sata to USB adapter. After installing Norton Ghost I backed up my C: drive and the System Reserved to the new HD, which is now the E: drive.

Turn off the computer, unplug the old HD, leave the new one plugged in, the Ghost CD still in the CD rom drive, and turn the computer on. The Symantec program starts up and I tell it I want to recover my computer. At this point I am lost, it is telling me that the destination is unavailable, and I'm sure it's a user error.

If anyone could please offer any suggestions or a different method of doing what I am trying to accomplish that would be great. Try not to be too harsh if I seemingly have no idea what I am doing :)

Merry Christmas!

(PS: Using windows 7 and I have a legitimate copy and the install CD right next to me. I have also done my best googling for help but have not come up with anything)
