Norton Secure VPN is not available for use within India due to governmental regulations.
In 2022, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) announced new cybersecurity directives that require VPN providers with physical servers in India to log and save specific user data, including names, IP addresses, email addresses, and usage timestamps, for a minimum of five years.
Norton is committed to its no-logs VPN policy, which is incompatible with these data retention laws. As a result:
- Norton removed its physical servers from India.
- The Norton VPN feature cannot be accessed while physically located in India.
- Users, regardless of location, can no longer select an Indian server location.
However, users can still utilize their Norton VPN subscription when traveling outside of India. Other major VPN providers, such as ExpressVPN and NordVPN, made similar decisions to withdraw their physical servers from India to protect user privacy.
AI Mode may make mistakes
Norton VPN is no longer available for use within India as a result of governmental regulations requiring the logging and saving of user data, but you can still use your product/subscription when traveling outside of India.
