Norton has red circle and white cross in task bar after I had to restore my computer,

reversed the restore but this is the error it gives me.   Error: "3040,20063" appears on Norton 360 Version 5.0

Hi,

please try to run Live Update manually. Usually after a system restore Norton can not recognize some files, as those are newer then the restored files, and this can cause errors.

Let us know how it goes.

Could you please explain what you did .... It's not completely clear to me. Did you for some reason do a System Restore?

Usually when I've seen someone has done a WIndows System Restore and had problems the solution offered has been to remove, cleanup and reinstall which you now can do neatly with the new Norton Remove&Reinstall Tool:

Here is a link to the new Norton Remove & Reinstall tool that, like the older Norton Removal Tool removes most Norton Products from your system, but the newer tool uninstalls the Norton products from your computer and reinstalls the latest version of your Norton security product.

If you already have the latest version of Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, or Norton 360, the Norton Remove & Reinstall tool reinstalls the same version of the Norton security product on your computer.

Note that although it does remove them,  it does not reinstall other Norton products you may have installed -- that you have to do manually and we can point you to the download point for the current versions.

Please let us know how you get on or if you have any queries ....

Hi suepapay,

System Restore often  breaks Norton because some of the restored files are out of date for Norton's present configuration.  Sometimes running LiveUpdate will put things right but it is not unusual that, following a restore operation, it will be necessary to uninstall Norton via Add/Remove Programs and then reinstall it, as huwyngr suggests.

norton remove and reinstall worked perfectly, THANK YOU!

Thanks for the good news Sue ,,,, good to know that the simpler route works.

Norton do say that if the Norton RnR Tool doesn't fix it then do the separate Norotn Removal Tool and install ......
