Norton Identity Safe has crashed: Chrome browser verson 33.0.1750.154 m running on Windows XP

Message "Norton Identity Safe has crashed"  appears on nearly every web page I visit: has been doing this for almost a week now, after auto-logins using Norton Vault worked succesfully, every day, for months!

 

Chrome version has been updated, but apparently NIS has not kept pace with the Chrome update(s) (or vice-versa?).

 

What corrective action is required to restore functionality to this expensive product I purchased?

 

Alternatively, if no corrective action is forthcoming, how may I obtain a refund of the purchase price, since the product cleary is not providing the promised capabilities?
