it is frustrating when Norton encounters a false positive and stops you from downloading something without offering you a choice to override it.
I believe this is caused by the Norton extension in Chrome.
It basically stops me from downloading a file even though it is perfectly safe and has been downloaded by a large community and used by a large community,
The frustration is that I just get a notification in the browser that Norton has stopped a malicious file and the download is cancelled I do not get a choice to override it and there i no sign of the download in the download list as it get stops before it gets downloaded.
Switching off download intelligence does not stop Norton from interfering and even switching off both antivirus and firewall still does not stop Norton interfering.
I had to use EDGE to download it without any issues as I do not believe has Norton installed as an extension.
How do I override Norton in situations where I know the file is safe to download (other than removing the extension from Chrome)?
I was having the same problem downloading software from a legit site with EDGE. Disabling Auto Protect and Smart Firewall still did not allow the download. Solution was to go into EDGE Settings (…) then to Extensions and turn off the Norton Extension for EDGE. Perhaps the same steps but in Chrome will allow your download.
