Norton Internet Seccurity has encountered an Internal Program Error, Error ID 100, 8504

I upgraded from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 after having difficulty updating my product via manual update (which I just found out was a temporry error d'oh).  Since doing so, I've had a couple of literal error pop-ups, stating the above.  Norton AutoFix ran and apparently applied a repair, but I want to double-check and make sure that all is well.

It also states that the Live Update has last occured over forty minutes ago, no matter how recently I've run an update.

I'm not entirely sure if I have the right product key - Norton came installed in this laptop and I upgraded digitally.

ETA: Noted the following in my firewall:

"Firewall Setting AlertThreadEnable Changed"

Hi mml_1980:

Try this...

Please contact Symantec via Live Chat at this link (see lower left of the page) and work with them to isolate the Key.

Hope this helps! Post back and let us know how you do. :smileyhappy:

Best,

Had a remote session with a perfectly lovely customer rep, but they took a look around and declared me clean and not in need of a re-install.  They said the firewall error might be a result of having Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware on my computer?  I've been informed before that all three products can exist concurrantly on a PC running Norton, as I don't have automatic protection enabled for any but my Norton.

Hi mml_1980:

Did you get your Product Key? :smileyhappy:

It is fine to have NIS, MBAM and SAS on your computer, as long as MBAM and SAS are not running in realtime but on-demand.

Do you have Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) on your computer? If so, please remove it and check.

Windows Firewall should be OFF as well (NIS should normally do this upon install.)

I would suggest the procedure as posted above, if the error condition still persists and/or LU does not update.

Regards,

Yep, the guy I talked to taught me where it's stored; still can't find it through NIS12, but have access to it now!

Yep, both are running in an on-demand capacity, I was careful to disable SAS's real-time protection.

When I check my firewall status, it says  "These settings are managed by Norton Internet Seccurity".  I don't have MSE enabled, either.

BUT!  The LU has updated :)  It says it last updated two seconds ago.

Microsoft Security Essentials should be completely removed from any system running a different realtime security program.

Hmm, I'll need to check and see if it even exists on here - I know I didn't load it into the computer.  Does it come auto-installed with Windows?

I took that to mean it was installed and disabled.  If you never installed it, you can disregard my earlier comment.

could you help me? i also get the air. just installed norton antivirus. new to the computor have a hp windows 7.

thanks

Ah, nope - unless it came auto-installed in Windows I don't have it on here :)
