I have tried to download Last Pass, a well known password inputer that I prefer to Norton's due to its ability to be used across multiple computers. Norton deletes the file as soon as I download it. I turned off auto protect and Download intelligence and it still deletes it. It says it has very few users and says the treat is medium. Can Norton not stand the competition? I would attach a screen shot but Your Forum doesn't accept a .png file which is the standard Windows 7 snip file. How can I download this file and why does Norton think it is unsafe?

I use Last Pass and I have NIS 2010. I have never received a message about last pass being a problem. Last Pass works without problems. I do not know why it works on my computer and not yours. I have Vista Home Premium SP2. I use Last Pass primarly on Firefox. If someone could tell me which of my settings should be identified to help let me know.
I would send it, but as I stated, Norton deletes it everytime I download it. As I stated, I tried to turn off Norton, but have been unable, so how do I turn off Norton?
Hello RonZimmerman
You can't turn off all of NIS without uninstalling the program. You can disable various parts of it. Can you contact the maker of the program and see if they can submit it to Symantec.? There is also this message up above from a Symantec Employee.
NIS 2010 reacted the same way today when I downloaded the latest version of LastPass. It's a simple fix:
Go into Quarantine
Click on the LastPass listing
Click on Options in the right pane
Click on Restore This File
I then had to download it again, but it installed fine.
If you're really into details, you can then go into NIS's Application Ratings, click on Untrusted Files, click on the LastPass files that show no Trust Level, and make them User Trusted. This will work unless the next update comes in with a new name.
By the way, not to correct all the previous posters, but this is the way to deal with incorrectly removed files that you know are safe. Their answers are correct if you are not sure of the file's 'safeness.'
HI RonZimmerman,
I would highly suggest trying to get the software manufacturer to submit this file to Symantec as a false positive as Floplot suggested earlier. This is the best method to ensure that changes are made such that it will not happen in the future.
If you are sure this file is safe you can restore it from quarantine as BajaBoojum indicated.
Best wishes.
Allen
Why use Lastpass when you have the Norton Cards and Logins? I used Lastpass awhile ago before I had NIS but now that I have NIS there is no need for it.
