Norton Internet Security 2010 vs Norton Security Suite 4.2

I was wondering what the differences are between the Comcast Norton Security Suite 4.2 and NIS 2010 are?

Should I switch to NIS? or is the Comcast suite the same thing?

Hello byrnedj

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum.

In this link you can compare NIS 2010 and N360 version 4

The comcast norton security suite is very similar to N360. The comcast version uses a diffferent backup program than N360 does. The Comcast program also receives program updates a little later than N360 users get them. The Comcast version is downloaded from the Comcast site.

NIS 2010 is more user friendly in that the user can adjust more settings. N360 and CNSS has less settings that can be adjusted.

Hope this helps.

Go to this page:

and about half way down the page you will see a comparison o fthe Features and Benefits of Norton 360 (paid program) as compared to Comcast Norton Security Suite.  There is a tab there also for system requirements.
.
That said you can then go to the link floplot provided and compare NIS to 360, bearing in mind the difference you observed above.
.
Comcast customers actually receive anti-virus/anti-spam  updates on the same schedule that Norton's paid customers do.  However, Comcast customers normally have to wait an additional two weeks or so for upgrades to the programs.  To make that clearer, all virus and spam deifinitions are received at the same time Norton's paid subscribers receive them, however if their is an upgrade from let's say version 3 to version 4 Comcast customers will have to wait.
.
NIS 2010 also does not have any backup capabilty, nor the PC Tune Up functions of N360 or CNSS.
.
In a nutshell, CNSS is basically a "set-it and forget program" intended for the less tech savy, while NIS allows more customization.
