Does NIS 2011 fully support email anti-virus scanning for Vista's 'Windows Mail' or Windows 7 'Windows Live Mail' desktop client? Seems I'm getting different answers from different techs.

Hi delphinium and thank you for replying. I'm using Windows Mail which you said is NOT supported for email scanning alone. Does auto protect give you the same amount of security when it comes to attachments and general email? If so, why even include an email scanning feature to begin with? Thanks In Advance.
Please excuse if this posts twice.
Auto-Protect is the real-time scanner in Norton AntiVirus. As Auto-Protect runs in the background, it protects your system by scanning files for viruses, Trojan horses, and worms. Auto-Protect scans all files that are received from any source, such as the Internet, removable disks, or email attachments. It scans files for threats any time that the files are accessed, such as when they are copied, moved, run, or opened. It also intercepts any run, open, or create activity and scans the file before allowing the action to continue. Email Scanner is just another layer of protection on top of this to filter out possible harmful emails.
Here is the difference- Email Scanning will be able remove the harmful attachment when it enters your email client, while the Auto-Protect only acts/scans when you try to open the attachment. Email scanner scans only those emails through Standard POP3/SMTP ports. So, even if you use non-standard ports, Auto-Protect will still scan the attachment when you try to open it.
