Norton Internet Security 2011 - Sidebar gadget question

I am running NIS 2011 with Windows 7.  Until recently the Norton sidebar gadget on my desktop was showing green with "Secure".  Now it is blue with animated chevrons running from left to right.  The 4 icons below the blue bar are 'greyed out'.

What does this mean?

Hi Elsewhere,

Thanks for the quick response (and the warm welcome).  Alas. the Autofix sugestion did not fix it.  I notice that the NIS icon in my system tray has a grey tick instead of the usual green one.  Perhaps this is a symptom of the same problem.

Could the problem be related to the fact  that I have only  4 days left on my current subscription ?  Unless you have any further ideas, I guess I will find out when I renew it soon.

Thanks Cucillo

I'm curious about the grey tick on the system tray icon that you mentioned. Please advise what version of NIS 2011 you are using (Support > About). Is it 18.1 or 18.5? If it's version 18.1, then could you please reboot your PC if you haven't done so in the last 24 hours. Norton are currently pushing the18.5 Product Update for NIS 2011 to randomly selected customers so you may have this update waiting to be applied to your PC (it requires a restart to finalise). After the restart, please check your version number again as I'd like to eliminate a pending product update from the equation.

If you still see the grey symbol on the system tray icon after a restart then please select 'Support > Subscription Status' from the main NIS interface This will run a Subscription Status Check on your product and will synchronise your local subscription information with the information held on the Symantec servers.

Let us know how you go with this.

Thanks.
