Norton hat wie alle Programme Fehler, aber diese Aussage ist schon etwas gewagt.
Nur weil Du auf Deinem Rechner Nis nicht installieren kannst, und der "Aussage eines Verkäufers von Saturn" nach, (ja der kennt sich aus) soll Nis eine Fehlkonstruktion sein.?
Was hat denn nicht geklappt.? Gabs Fehlermeldungen.? Was war vorher als Security auf dem Rechner? Wie wurde das entfernt.? Welches BS ist auf dem Computer.? Ist die Version passend zum BS und zum Computer.? Stimmen die Anforderungen.?
Dies mal zum Anfang.

Daraus spricht in der Tat sehr viel mehr Computer Kenntnis als ich habe.
Wenn man Fachmann/frau sein muss, um das Update zu installieren, ist es wohl nicht das Richtige für mich.
Ich bin ein ganz normaler unwissender PC User, der einfach die CD einlegen möchte und es funktioniert.
Bei den bisherigen Norton-Versionen war das auch so und ich habe es eigentlich bisher bei allen Software Installationen so erlebt.
Nun denn, dann ist halt Norton nichts mehr für mich.
Habe inzwischen noch ein paar andere Forums Beiträge gelesen und stelle fest: Ich hab noch Glück gehabt - Blue Screen oder Explorer weggehauen wären schlimmer gewesen...

PS: Mir scheint auch, Saturn Verkäufer haben nicht unbedingt viel Ahnung, wollte sagen, die schlagen sich jetzt auch mit Kunden rum, die wissen wollen, wie sie ihr Laufwerk wieder kriegen.
Ach so, sorry, du wolltest ja wissen, was genau passiert war:
Es hat das Laufwerk weggehauen, ohne jegliche Vorwarnung.
Nach Systemwiederherstellung hab ich einen zweiten Versuch gewagt - wieder das Gleiche.
Und irgendwo auf dem Weg war dann der Internet Explorer weg und das Office Paket funktionierte auch nicht mehr,
aber, wie gesagt, das mag an den Wiederherstellungen gelegen haben.

how did you update to NIS2012? Did you install it simply over 2011? Or did you remove version 2011 first?
If the first, please try this as sometimes leftovers from the old version can cause issues:
1. If you use the feature, please backup your Identity Safe data
2. Download latest Norton Internet Security installer from here (this is the English one, for other languages please go to the Norton Update Center and select manual product selectoion + change the language on the site's top: www.norton.com/nuc )
3. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
4. Disconnect from internet
5. Remove Norton Internet Security from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs
6. Reboot
7. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
8. Install Norton Internet Security 2012
9. Reconnect to the internet
10. Activate it with your old serial
11. Run Live Update until you get no new updates
12. Restore your Identity Safe data

I've been away for two days, hence this late response to your suggestion. I did, in fact, download NIS 2012 over 2011. I do this every year.
There is just one thing before I try out your method. Your item 8 states that I install NIS 2012, but I cannot do this while the Internet is disconnected as I don't have the 2012 CD, or have I missed something?
I will look forward to your further commets.

You can download the English version installation file for NIS 2012 and save it to your desktop:

step two is the download of the 2012 version's latest installer ;). You need only to double click on that installation file.

If you notice any issue after the update, please download and run the Norton Remove And Reinstall Tool: www.norton.com/nrnr

I have Norton Internet Security 2011 installed on my computer. I have purchased Norton Internet Security 2012 CD.
Do I need to uninstall 2011 before installing 2012.

You can sign in to your Norton Account - https://www.mynortonaccount.com/amsweb/default.do - and download a copy there. It will already be activated so you will not have to enter your key. Remember to run Live Update, rebooting as required until you are up to date. I hope this helps.

Hi I have jus tpurchased the above on CD & as it can be installed onto 3 PC one of mine is a notebook without a disc drive is there anyway it can be installed onto the notebook.

You can use your software on any 3 computers you wish. You could even have a family member or a friend living anywhere using one of your activations.

Thank you for your reply. OS Windows 7. Did the auto fix OK and things seem better. Haven’t lost the Norton Gadget and can bring up the header from the short cut on header page. What is this I read in the text here about the Gadget being a source of being able to break into programs? Thank you for your help. Bob

Sounds like you got it working.
Not sure what you are referring to in that 'the Gadget being a source of being able to break into programs'. Can you give a reference?
If this is an issue with gadgets, I would think it may be all gadgets, not specifically Norton. I don't use them.
