Hi, I'm new to the forums.
My issue is I can't log on to secure sites at all, I think Norton Internet Security firewall is the problem- Windows says it is still running even though i tried to uninstall all Norton products on my machine. I have no way of opening it to see what it's doing since most of the Norton components are now deleted, yet i'm still blocked from accessing https and ftp connections. I tried running RnisUPG.exe but it did not solve the problem, Windows says Norton Firewall is still on. I tried Norton_Removal_Tool.exe but it said it was an out of date version- when I went to the Symantec site to download the updated file it was on an ftp site- which I cannot access! Likewise the Internet Support Chat and Form Email to support are both https which i can't access either.
What do I do to solve this problem? Thanks.
I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium, and I’m not sure which version of Norton Internet Security it is, I think it came with the system, so maybe 07 or 08.
Which service pack have you got installed on Windows Vista? To check which version of Norton you have got, please do the following:
Open the main screen of your NIS product, then go to "Support" and then to "About Norton Internet Security".
dbris is offline at the moment, you'll have to wait until he or another guru/computer expert nips round to continue helping you :-)
Hi flashrhyme,
Had you uninstalled NIS via Programs and Features prior to running the RnisUPG.exe removal utility?

Hmmm... Looks like you may have a Threat on your computer, which may Block you to Security Web Sites. Might be worth giving Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware a shot. If you do want to give Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware a go, make sure you do not pay for it as that will add Real-Time Protection, which will conflict with your Norton Product, which will make you vulnerable. Make sure you Update and then dis-connect from the Internet and do a Full Scan in Normal Mode and in Safe Mode, of all Drivers available. Then Upload the Logs of the Scans to the Forum using the "Add Attachments".
You could also do a HiJackThis Log for us, so we can see what's Running on your computer:
Download HiJackThis; the 3rd .exe (Executable) Version in the list, Run it, Creating a Log. If using Vista, Right-Click and "Run as Administrator". Please then Upload the Log to the Forum.
You are also entiled to a Free Upgrade to N.I.S. 2010, if:
- you have Norton 2006 Products and Later.
- you have a Vaild Subscription.
Please see the Norton Internet Security 2010 and Norton AntiVirus 2010 have been released! Thread for more details.

UPDATE
Someone on the CNET forums told me to download the Norton Removal Tool.exe from another computer onto a USB, then load it on mine. That did the trick! Norton is gone and I can access secure sites now!
Thanks all for the help.

Since you no longer have a Norton Product installed, we cannot help you, as that is one of the Requirements of the Forum; do you plan to re-install your Norton Product?
