Norton Internet Security has a license or suscription problem

I've been running Norton Internet Security fine on this computer for 2+ years. My suscription currently is good until March 2012. It was working fine earlier this morning then I go on my computer and it says "Norton Internet Security has a license or suscription problem" and "You will need to activate your product." When I click activate now it lets me enter the product key and says connecting to server but then the window closes and nothing happens.

Any ideas how to fix this?

rebecca,

In case this is a server problem "out there" perhaps you would try a couple of times more at intervals and if you still get this then since it is subscription related the best thing is to contact Norton's OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route as beslow and they'll sort it out quickly since they have the tools.

How have you been renewing/buying your NIS each year? The only other cases at all similar I've seen where this was not a computing glitch were when people bought at "too good to be true" prices on the internet from other than Norton's authorized distributors and the keys turned out to be forged or used -- this does not always show up on first activation with such a key because it sometimes takes time for Norton to become aware the invalid keys are around..

But hopefully it's not that and just a server glitch at Norton's end. I only mention it so you don't get angry at the OnLine Staff <s>

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Please let us know how you get on ....

It came with my computer and I added the automatic renewal to it.

I think definitely speak with Customer Support using the CHAT link.

I believe some of these preinstalled versions are trials for a certain period -- 30 days -- while some are activated for a longer period, say 6 - 18 months, which may really be prepaid by the purchaser but hidden in the hardware price .....

Usually when you activate a trial version for the first time by puchasing a subscription from Norton theyt send you an email with a KEY in it and you use that to activate by clicking on Subscribe or Renew but in your case ?????

I just don't know the system.

But they will know and have all the tools.

So try the CHAT via your computer keyboard and please let us know how you get on ....

Hello Rebecca

Please check the time and date and location  on your computer. Thanks.
