Hey everyone.
I have a rather irritating problem I just started running into today.
On the main page of the Norton Internet Security program, clicking on ANY of the three buttons ("Scan now, Live update, or Advanced") causes a message that Norton Internet Security has stopped working and the program closes. The Icon in the notification area also goes away. It re-appears a second later when the program restarts. I also see a message in the windows event log (application) stating that NIS.exe was the faulting application. The heading sections at the top: "settings, performance, feedback, account, and support" all work like they are supposed to. It's only the three main buttons that cause a crash. While I can't run a manual Live Update, the program does appear to continue to update automatically so it appears the product is still functioning in the background.
I have already attempted to uninstall the program, use the norton removal tool, and reinstall two different times. Both times to no avail. I have also checked the computer for infections using other means and nothing has turned up. I could not run a manual scan with NIS due to the crashes when I try the "Scan now" button.
Does anyone have any advice? I am about to go crazy from this.
