i assumed those were the norton licenses he was talking about, but i suppose it could be windows licenses from where he put it in the sentence.
problem with the small business liscenses is they only come in 5 and 10 packs, and last time i was setting up a network of 6 it was cheaper to buy 2 of the 3-packs than it was to buy a 5 pck and a 3 pack, which is the only way i could figure to get 6....
i think he just has a firewall settings problem, but i don't know what to tell him to check or uncheck....
I have two three packs - and yes that is what I meant.
I have checked and unchecked just about every box in NIS Options, so I don't think that it is a setting problem. Besides, most of the installs were left to their complete default settings post install, don't know why they would set it that way..
(Just for future information: If someone suggests that I uninstall and reinstall I will seriously loose it...)
thanks,

Hello,
I recently installed Norton Internet Security 2008 on six computers that were joined to an Windows Active Directory Domain (all with their own licenses, of course.) They all appeared to install fine, however, there appear to be some features that do not work correctly when signed in as a domain user.
I gave users local administrator rights for their respective machines which enabled the majority of functions in NIS 2008. The problem is that Norton doesn't prompt for applications that attempt to access the internet. It just blocks all attempts and doesn't even log them. I am able to go into Norton Internet Security Options > Persona Firewal > Program Control and manually give applications access but this is an extremely tiresome task, expecially when they are processes or windows components that need internet access.
I've had this problem since NIS 08 came out, but put up with it until now. I didn't have this problem with previous versions.
Symantec support was of no help, I've opened several problems but recieved no useful suggestions. Twice I was asked "what's a domain?" Does anyone have any ideas? I really hate to have paid for this and recieved so horriable an experience.
Thank you,
Ryan W. Keen

Like everything to do with computers, not "if" but "when" .....
Glad you still have a sense of humor -- again, essential in computing: "Life is too serious not to make fun of it"
Sorry I missed the parenthesis in your original post. I jumped the gun a little.
I hope you don't give up on this and quite frankly I am surprised someone from Symantec staff hasn't jumped in to help you. They monitor this forum faithfully.
You should be hearing from someone soon.....hang in there...
I gave up six months ago...
I recently completely reinstalled two of the machines and the same problem is present, so I thought I'd give it another shot.
Thanks though,
Ryan

Wow! That worked! I am very very impressed!
After paying for two support tickets that got me nowhere, I didn't think I would actually get a solution!
Thank you!
Ryan
