Hi Vineeth,

Thank you for your reply.

I also hope I have purchased the 2008 version! That's just my point, when Norton puts out these 90 day trials pre-installed on a computer, it should be clearly identified what your getting if you purchase the product. All this software says is that it's Norton Internet Security. Doesn't say whether its 2006, 2007 or 2008. When I dig into it I find it's version 10.1.0.26  Copyright 2006    I see in this forum that 2008 is up around version 15! If I go ahead and purchase a license I expect not only to get updates but also be informed that I don't have the latest software version and told how to get the upgrade. Thanks for giving me the link to 2008 but I shouldn't have to go onto a forum asking for this information. I trust the license key I purchased will work ok with 2008. If not I'll be looking for a refund and a different security suite!

Unfortunately I'm away from my high speed connection for a week. Don't think I'll attempt the upgrade using dialup @ 24KB!

Thanks again,

Mike

Hi,

If the version of the Norton product you are using is 10.1,then you are using the 2007 version.

If you have subscription remaining, then go ahead and upgrade to the 2008 version once you are back.

I purchased an Acer laptop which came with a trial version of Norton Internet Security. Copyright is 2006 and version is 10.1.0.26

I decided to purchase it. Everything went smoothly and I got a license key which installed ok so the product is licensed to me for the next year. Automatic live updates work fine. I expected this version to automatically upgrade to a later version. So far it hasn't. Was I wrong in thinking this older trial version would include an upgrade to the 2008 version? If it does, why does it not automatically upgrade? If that's not possible will Symantec eventually advise me that I am entitled to an upgrade? If I am entitled to one and Symantec will never let me know that I am and how to acquire it, I think that's very poor customer support!

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks Vineeth,

I'm back to high speed, downloaded the 2008 version and it installed fine and accepted the license for 1 year. Just hope somebody from Symantec customer support realizes there is a problem here. I wonder how many people are using an old version thinking they have the latest and greatest.

Mike

Hi,

I think you have activated the 2006 version with the product key of the product you have purchased.

For your information,2006 version will not automatically be upgraded to the 2008 version. I hope you have purchased the 2008 version.

Also with the 2006 version, you are eligible for the free upgrade to 2008 version. Please let me know the product version you have purchased???

Still, with the current subscription you can upgrade to the 2008 version.

Please follow the link given below to download and install the 2008 version.

http://shop.symantecstore.com/store/symnahho/en_US/ContentTheme/ThemeID.106300/pbPage.Trialware_en_US

During installation your 2006 version will be removed and you may prompted to restart.

You can activate the product using the product key(activation key) you have.

Please let me know if this can be of any use and if you need help further.
