Norton Internet Security Says Protected - Windows 7 Action Centre Says Norton Interned Security & Firewall Are Turned Off

All has been fine with my 2 Windows 7 pc's until I ran the latest Windows security patch KB3079904. When the pc's rebooted, Norton Security said that performance fix was required and windows temporary files etc, disk optimisation ran etc. All ok except that windows action centre had improtant red messages -

1) Virus Protection - Norton Internet Security reports that it is turned off. Clicking through on turn on now, yes I trust publisher (Norton) seems to have no effect.

2) Network Firewall - Windows Firewall and Norton Internet Security both report that they are turned off. Clicking through on view firewall options and choosing turn on Norton, yes I trust publisher seems to have no effect.

When I go to Control Panel, Windows Firewall says "These settings are being managed by vendor application Norton Internet Security".

The Control Panel for Windows Defender is turned off.

As far as I can tell, Norton protection is on, live updates download and run, scans work.

Confirmation that this is just some false alarm in the action centre would be reassuring, and a fix (not reintall Norton) would be appreciated.

Bizarre that it started on both pc's today with common factor being latest security patch followed by Norton running performance fix....
