Norton Internet Security Slows Performance of Mac

Since I installed Norton Security on my Mac the performance has been very slow, so slow I was thinking about upgrading.  Significantly slower to book and open web pages, download e-mail. I have just uninstalled Norton Security and now the system is running at the original speed, quick and responsive. It's not a super powerful system but has always been fine for our needs, web browsing, e-mail and a bit of final cut pro and motion graphics. However, I am now running without any virus security on my system. System details are below,

I have been running Norton security on my PC for many years without a problem but is a shame the Mac software is not as well developed. Please, can you let me know when you have an update the Norton Security software to address the poor performance? So I can re-install the product.

Hi 

I have also just run back magic disk test on my external SSD drive. Without Norton Internet Security I get a quite respectable 286 MB/sec with Norton Internet Security I get 95 MB/sec. Shocking.
