Is there a problem with NIS 2010 and Steam, because almost everytime Steam searches for updates it crashes, I then have to restart it, and then the updates are shown. I’m using Norton IS 2010 build 17.0.0.136 and Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 (Danish). I got following error message (it doesn’t indicate NIS as a guilty part, but maybe the SONAR interferes): Steam.exe 1.0.0.0 4a15c82b Steam.dll_unloaded 0.0.0.0 4ab800f3 c0000005 301ec3cb 78c 01ca4b717ad84280
Try to update Steam while you turn off auto-protect temporary (on the tray icon click with the right mouse button, then select turn off auto protect). Let us know the results.
It's not when it searches for updates. That you have to do manually by selecting it in steams' menu. It's when new products are available, which is shown as 1 one pop-window with a text saying "1/10" for eksample, if there are 10 pages with new products or updates to them. And it always happens at system startup, when Steam find news.
Not in steam, I think, but I have a program calle RoboTask, which have something like maybe I can get Steam to run through that. But I have a feeling that the problem vanishes when my pre-ordered Windows 7 DVD arrives.
Check under Miscellaneous settings and see if there is an automatic task delay setting where you can set the time for how long you want the delay. I have Norton Antivirus part of system works which should be the same antivirus part, but I'm still on 2009. Don't know if that feature was removed in 2010 or not.
