Hi,

First what is Norton IPS 1.0?

I am using FireFox 3.1 and when i click on Tools then Add-ons & click on Extensions, It keeps saying Norton IPS 1.0, This add-on will be updated when firefox is restarted,

Will i restarted like 10 times and still say the same message..

Has Windows Vista with NIS2009

So what is this and should i just click cancel?

Hello Eraserone,

IPS 1.0 is the Symantec Intrusion Prevention.

Can you try to disable it as an add-on, restart Firefox and then try to enable it?

Let us know the result.

How to do you temporary disable NIS? when i right click the Nis icon on taskbar there is nothing to turn off…

Ok i was able to disable the Add-on then said to restart firefox which i did and open Firefox back open and once again got the same message saying this add-on will be updated when firefox is restarted.

Don't want to have to remove NIS2009 and reinstall it..

Of course there is an option to temporarily disbale it. It says “disable anti virus auto protect”. Also with the Norton removal tool it takes minutes to uninstall and reinstall.

Silly me, i found it and disabled NIS 2009 then restarted firefox and problem went away, i just hope the Nortons IPS is working

Thanks for your help.

Hello, I work on the Symantec IPS QA team and I am trying to get to the bottom of this issue.

The plugin in question is the Firefox "Unauthorized Download Protection" component. System wide IPS is not affected if this plugin is not loaded.

A few questions:

------------------------------

What version of the NIS beta are you using?

Was Firefox 3.0.1 installed before or after NIS 2009?

Do you have multiple versions of Firefox on the system?

In Vista, do you have "UAC" enabled (User Access Control)?

- Thanks,

MikeT

Hi,

I have the final version of NIS 2009 16.0.0.125

I had FireFox 3.01 installed before i installed NIS 2009

Only have 1 version of Firefox installed on my computer.

I do have UAC enabled

And i just noticed i thought it was fixed by disabling NIS2009 then re-enabling it and just clicked on tools then Add-on on Firefox and get the same message  Nortons IPS 1.0 , This add-on will be updated when Firefox is restarted,

Thanks for the reply,  hope you can get this fixed.

Happened to me also. Temporarily disable NIS and try it. Worked for me.
