Hello @RachelA_Williams
Norton Family keeps blocking Duke of Edingburgh app ?

Are you referring to the official DofE app; free tool for Android and iOS, designed for participants to manage their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, plan programs, record evidence, and message Leaders.

======================

If Norton Family is still blocking the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) app after you have turned off supervision, it is likely due to a synchronization lag or a conflict with web-filtering categories.

Force a Rule Update
The most common fix for “clunky” behavior where settings don’t apply is to force the device to re-sync with Norton’s servers:

  • Lock and Unlock: Sign into your parent account, select the child’s profile, and click Lock Child’s Device. Wait 30 seconds, then click Unlock. This “force-pushes” current rules to the device.
  • Update House Rules: On the child’s device, open the Norton Family app, tap the Profile icon, and select Update House Rules.

Check Web Supervision Exceptions
Even if App Supervision is off, the DofE app may be blocked if it tries to access a web domain that Norton categorizes as restricted (e.g., “Uncategorized” or “Education”).

  • Go to Web Supervision settings for the child.
  • Look for Allowed Websites or Exceptions.
  • Add the following DofE-related domains to the Allowed list: edofe.org and dofe.org.

Address Missing Permissions
Norton often defaults to a “block all” state if it detects that its own system permissions have been tampered with or revoked by an OS update.

  • On the child’s device, open the Norton Family app.
  • Tap the Profile icon > Permissions.
  • Ensure all items (especially Accessibility, App Usage, and Draw Over Other Apps) show a green checkmark.

Toggle “School Time”
If your child’s school has integrated schedules, School Time might be active, which blocks everything except specific educational categories regardless of your standard supervision settings. Verify this is Off in the parent dashboard.

If the app remains blocked, a clean reinstall of Norton Family on the child’s device is recommended to clear any corrupted local rule files.

Does the block screen show a specific message (like “Time is up” or “Category blocked”) when she tries to open the app.

Caveat: I do not run Norton Family nor familiar with DofE app.
