Hi since I install Norton 360 & your password vault My pc doesn't lock when it goes to sleep anymore & anyone with a cell phone in my house can open my pc & it is saving my passwords in my web browser. When remove Norton everything goes back to normal but as soon as I install it, within a week I'm sitting with the same problem.
How do I fix this problem & is it possible to have only the antivirus without all the other crap?
windows icon key and i press together in top box ( home i think it says) on side should see cloud there and under that one drive where you can set to off
also may try in the file folder ( yellow folder) click that and top left third one down should see one drive can pause there
A fresh install of windows 11 as a local user didn't totally remove AVG but it has stopped Microsoft trying to force me to use their cloud or one drive.
I'm not sure why microsoft find it so hard to understand that some people don't want their personal files stored in cyber space
I ran ccleaner as suggested & it found AVAST on my pc.
if you use ccleaner ( free) and run the registry check that will help with that issue
some programs are better than others in removing themselves
sometimes need to dig in the hard drive folder ( seems to be c by default)
if you click the yellow envelope at bottom on left bar scroll down to my pc
it will show your drive and how much space you have ( memory)
click that to open or left click than properties
should open new box folder
down in program files ( and prolgram86 think is other) click to open
now you got all the file folders for programs etc... most of them dont mess with but in this case you will be looking for avg ( applies to any other program you know you removed also) and delete the folder
Yes I had AVG but when I started having this problem AVG was uninstalled.
I checked in my registery & still saw some files of AVG were in there so I uninstalled Norton, done a fresh install of winodws 11, then I re-installed Norton.
several issues here that are of concern not sure i can make it come across as i intend so bear with me
1st issue did you have or still have installed another antivirus or other software before you installed norton?
that would cause a conflict
the version of windows may or may not be a factor, sometime ago i saw they support back to windows 7 (off top my head)
any updates for windows could also be a issue
as for the passwords being saved in the browser, that would in your settings for the browser ( save password or payment info for example)
as for the lock issue that would seem to me to be a setting within windows itself ( think screen saver setting)
as for other issue thats something i am not certain of, just my opinion but would seem perhaps you have a installation issue with norton or not set correct somewhere
have you run the auto fix tool? that can find installation or other issues ( best to do when first installing), and takes a few restarts after getting the updates and or patches/build
than you go thru the settings and get set the way you wish
Was there any other security product on this PC before you installed Norton? If so, did you fully remove it using the removal utility for that software?
Norton should not be causing Windows to stop locking when it goes to sleep. Are you sure it is actually going to sleep?
And I do not understand how cell phones in the house being able to have any access to your PC. Can you give more detail on this cell phone access? How does the phone access the PC? Does it require a specific app for this? What on the PC do the phones gain access to?
