Hi F_R,
It definitely sounds like something is amiss. I'm inclined to get logs, but I think reinstalling - given the small commitment of time with 2009 - is a sound place to start to eliminate install as a suspect. Just use Add/Remove (don't need NRT) - then re-install and see if you can reproduce. If the same problems occur, let me know here and I'll setup a protocol for gathering up the appropriate logs.
Thanks,
Matt
Okay, let me explain, since this is turning in to something much more serious.
When i installed the Product, on the Day of Release, I ran LiveUpdate via the Control Panel after installing 2009 since LiveUpdate 2008 was left behind. It then told me that Updates were available for Symantec Intrusion Prevention Signatures, but, when I clicked "Next >", it Failed; then I realised that I had to un-install the LiveUpdate manually, so I used to N.R.T. and re-installed Norton 2009. This was when my problems began...
Hi F_R and mijcar:
We’re doing some research on the issues reported on this thread, and I just wanted to post this update. I believe there are three different issues, so let me address them one at a time. 1) The “icons freezing” is most likely purely cosmetic, unrelated to the failed updates. Animations sometimes stop and start during the update process (due to the UI thread being pre-empted by higher-priority threads), but this is innocuous and is unrelated to whether an update succeeds. The “real work” of downloading and applying updates occurs in a separate process from the user interface. 2) All updates reportedly failing. We found that when a single update fails in a very specific way, all updates report that they have failed, even though they have succeeded. This doesn’t always happen because the failed update must fail in a very specific way. We are working on a patch. 3) One of the updates failed, which is what led to issue #2, above. We have reproduced this with recent IPS definition updates, and are researching a solution.
Thanks,
Bob

Thank you for the Update.
Hi Floating_Red,
The symptoms your describe are a little ambiguous, but can you confirm that you do not see a "more info" button in the dialog after the session completes (or are not taken directly to One Click Support)?
Assuming that you are not experiencing any other connectivity-related problems, I think confirming that the Windows Firewall is off is a good place to start. Also, if you participated in the beta, I'd recommend NRT prior to installing build 125 (I suspect you did this but thought it worth mentioning for other who might be reading).
Also, can you tell me whether your virus definitions are updating normally?
Thanks,
Matt
