Norton LiveUpdate update - I have questions

I used to be an Avast user, but I wanted to migrate to Norton for several reasons. Now there’s one thing I liked about Avast that I can’t do in Norton, let me tell you.

In Avast, I could manually download database updates without having to update the program as well.

Because I realize that in Norton I’m forced to update the program along with the daily updates.

I wanted to know if there’s a way to block Norton program updates to the next version, like I do in Avast, since both are from the same company. If there is, please let me know, because this would prevent several problems for me. :expressionless_face:

It would be great if the Norton team could do the same thing Avast does, block Norton program updates.

Giving me the option to update whenever I want.

Thanks for the clarification, but I believe someone from the Norton team can read the forum and the comments and verify this, as happens in other forums I visit.

@New_Style_xd I’m not an Norton employee but can give you the answers you are asking for.

  1. Current Norton products, no longer can use the Intelligent updates to just update viral definitions because Norton no longer supports them.
  2. Current Norton products are 100% direct cloud based downloads via the UI.

The only way to shut down updates is the setting shown below, which will, disable ALL updates including viral defs. Not a practical setting indeed.

** Those are not expected to change in the near term, Norton has not provided any information otherwise, directly nor indirectly. I can suggest you add a product feature suggestion on the Product Suggestions board for better visibility.
