Hello fattiechef

Did you first try to uninstall NIS using the control panel method and then reboot your laptop? You could also try a fresh download with the removal tool. Also if you are using Vista , please remember to run it as Administrator.

You can download the Norton Removal tool from

http://www.symantec.com/symnrt

Please pick the proper Norton product that you want to remove. Also please be aware that it will remove all Norton products, so back up Identity Safe using the program to back that up. Also please have your product key handy.

Thank you Allen for new link

Did your laptop come with NIS preinstalled and are you now using Comcast Norton Security Suite that you get for free if you are a Comcast  customer since you mentioned Norton Security Suite?

I ran in safe mode,

run Norton removal and it said it expired.

Ran the auto fix tool for active-script and no joy.didn't work.

Tool still said expired.

Was all ran in safe mode.

If you could assist me,

be most grateful.

but i can due to error on security.

.

Please click Help & Support > About so we know.

So we know. It is important

The version number under Help & Support > About should begin with a 16. 17. or  18.

Hi,

Norton Removal Tool expired message indicates that your system date and time are incorrect. If it is incorrect, please correct it, and then run the Norton Removal Tool.

If that does not work, you may need to remove a registry key. You can find the steps in the following Knowledge Base article:

Hi fattiechef,

We need to know which OS (operating system) and SP (service pack) you have and whether it is 32 or 64 bit. This can all be found by right click on My Computer from your desktop or Windows Explorer and selecting Properties.

Also the version of your Norton product as noted by others.

Floplot asked if you had tried to uninstall via Control panel earlier before using the Norton removal tool. Can you confirm if you did this? If you have Windows XP it is through Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and with Vista or WIndows 7 it is Control Panel > Uninstall a program.

Also if you have Norton Comcast Security suite (you mentioned Norton security suite) the correct version of the remova tool is below.

Please let us know the answers to the questions.

Thanks and best wishes.
