Norton Password import CSV does not find any passwords

Norton Password import CSV does not find any passwords in the CSV file thst i JUST created.

What password manager are you trying to import from? Use the information in this Norton Support article for importing from specific password managers.

I followed those instructions. What is the format that Norton expects to see in IMPORT. Does that format expect THREE lines at the begninng with the third line being the actual column labels

. I suspect that EXPORT writes in a format that IMPORT cannot read.

I am only using Norton Password Manager.

My goal is to edit the CSV file and delete duplicate entries that NPW creates. Deleting entries one at a time manually is time-consuming, because the file is in the cloud and NPW does not have a multiple entry deletion capability. The only approach is to edit in Excel and sort. The resultant edited CSV file is what fails. I have dug into this more and found the following.

Export a CSV password file in NPW.

Import that file, as an NPW file, and Norton accepts it. I don’t finish the process, because that duplicates every single entry, obviously.

Open the CSV file in Excel. Make NO changes but save as a CSV file.

Importing that file now fails, regardless of which CSV file format I Save As.

I can open the CSV file in Notepad, delete a few entries, save, and NPW accepts it. That defeats the purpose of efficient multiple entry deletion, since Notepad does not have duplicate entry delete function, which Excel does.

I have an approach that works.

Edit the CSV file in Excel.
Sort and delete duplicates as needed.

Change the Version number from 2 to to 2.0 including the displayed number of decimals places (1).

Save as CSV UTF-8

Import into NPW. Be sure to set the Source as NPW
