Norton PC Checkup a scam?

I have always held Norton products in high regard.  However, I have just installed Norton PC Checkup, whicn came bundled with software in my thumbdrive.  I ran it, only to be given incorrect information, and infomed that I should purchase Norton products to solve the problems.

I was informed that I have no antivirus running (I have PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus runniing), that only Windows firewall was running (I am running Comodo firewall), that I have no protection installed (PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Performance Toolkit ).  Furthermore, it suggests that my performance is poor (even though I use PC Tools Performance Toolkit and Iolo System Mechanic to enhance performance) , specifically that my speed rating is poor, even though my machine flies in tests.  Finally, it warns that I have 3 viruses/spyware infections, although all 3 listed are harmless cookies.

This is detestable behavior on the part of a otherwise respectable software vendor.  I am directed to purchase Norton products to correct misidentified (fraudulently identified) problems.  Really, how could you?  Your product may be superior to those I use, but only marginally, as they are highly rated on the internet.  Why would I want to pay to try out Norton software under these fraudulelnt conditiions?
