My PC ( Dell Inspiron 7786 )Intel(R) Core™ i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 16GB memory 1TB SSD ) running Windows 11 is extremely slow to start. I have run the scans and there are no detected threats. I then used Power Eraser and it still says no threats. I click the link to inform Norton that I am still having issues, the web page opens but there is no content.
Any help appreciated.
@EdwardAdair_ONeill Having confirmed your CPU is on the approved CPU listing for Microsoft that rules out one issue.
*I recommend first performing the suggestions in this linked article: Please let us know your results.
-Have you booted into safe mode to see what difference there is in load time and try to start
processes that may be the issue?
-Do you have any other security software installed and running with Norton at boot?
-What are the processes loading at boot? Posting a screenshot of Task Manger using the processes tab would help us see what you are seeing.

Thanks for the response. I have started on DISM commands, it says the component store is repairable. Running the restore health command, it has been stuck on 62.3% for quite a while.
Update to follow
Thanks, just allow it to run until completed. Another thing to consider is Intel and AMD have released more than one “microcode” updates via Windows Updates to address issue with vulnerabilities with the CPU’s itself. Related to the Spectre and Meltdown issues that have been around since 2018. These alone, will cause significant performance degradation even on the latest processor families. They are all affected.

The DISM completed with this error.
The repair content could not be found anywhere.
Check the internet connectivity or use the “Source” option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the image. For more information on specifying a source location, see link
I checked the link, but the browser just keeps spinning, no response.
Thinking I should maybe repair windows 11?
The first question I have is did you run all three DISM command lines in secession or just one of them? This command most important since it will look online for the needed files to replace/repair what is corrupted or missing. It should NOT have tried finding a local image to use.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
You should ignore this: Fix problems with DISM using install.wim image. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:E:\Sources\install.wim
WIM files are not generally bootable but can contain multiple images for Windows.

I did, clearly something went wrong. I’m away now until Friday, I’ll retry when I get back.
Thanks again for the help
Your welcome. Keep us posted so we can follow up.

I ran the DISM commands again and got the same result. I ended up reinstalling windows using the update repair feature. PC is much more stable. However everytime I restart it, it says installing updates? That’ll be three times in a row.
Norton or Windows is installing updates on restart?

Yep, I think that was it. Started PC this morning, no issues. Thanks again for the help.
You’re most welcome.
