Norton prevents unmounting/ejecting USB

I am using Norton 360 for gamers.

- I have disabled scanning of removable drives

- Also I have disabled scanning of USB devices

Yet Norton won't allow me to eject USB hard drive. No matter what I do.

I know for a fact it is Norton, because I have tested several antivirus vendors lately.

- Avast doesn't do that

- Also with F-Secure, McAfee, Bitdefender and just using plain Windows Defender - no problems.

While using any of those I can eject my USB hard drives within 5 mins.

When Norton is running, I am trying, and trying and trying... it takes often more than 30-40 mins.

I have also tested different drives and different USB ports.

I know there are ways to expedite that but I don't want to risk losing data and because this is clearly a Norton problem.

I even tried turning auto protect etc. all OFF, no help.

When I restore a system image with any of those other antivirus programs installed, the issue is gone.

I would like to stick with Norton, so it would be interesting to know why Norton is so persistant with this, thank you.

Because there is no option to delete my post, I will just reply to myself.

This problem is solved, kind of. For some reason it started working just fine, the problem is gone. And I have absolutely no idea how or why, was it some Windows or Norton update that fixed it or what.

But anyway, I'm happy that the issue is gone.
