Norton renewal

My mistake..... About a month ago I decided the renewal price for Norton Anti Virus was a bit to much so I uninstalled Norton

and switched to a free anti virus, (Zone Alarm firewall and Anti virus). Well today I receive a subscription renewal from Norton

with a $10 savings. My problem is as I said I uninstalled Norton Anti Virus and I can not find a Norton CD so I can reinstall it and then renew my subscription. Is it possible that if renew and install the down loaded Norton Anti Virus it is a whole program and I will again be back with Norton. I hope you understand what I am saying. Can I renew my subscription if Norton is not on my computer now?

After looking around the Norton site I was wondering if I just download the $39.99 Norton Anti Virus is that the whole package and I would have Norton in whole?

Hi everyone, help or advice please.

I am about to renew NIS 2011, I normaly do this on-line, but our local store had the 3 PC, CD version on offer at half price.

Do I need to re-install using the CD or can I just use the product code within the CD cover?

PC is a Advent laptop (notebook), Windows Vista, 64 bit.

Thanks in advance

Hello Paysource

Please wait until a day or 2 before your subscription ends to enter the new key. If you do it before, you will lose any remaining days since the new key starts the countdown at 366 again. Also, please make sure you do it before the subscription ends as the program will stop functioning then. Thanks.

Many thanks for the replies.

All sorted.

Thanks for the reply... I believe my problem might be that I uninstalled NAV and do not have the orginal Norton CD. If I renew and download the "update" will that install the Norton product or is it just an update to my subscription?

The Alert you got from Norton did it say you had days added or on days lift keep in minded the Norton product come with 3 licenses

Hi richocki:

If you'd like to updgrade from NAV to NIS or N360, they're currently on sale for $19.99 US (see here) on the Symantec site.  If you live outside the U.S. try the Amazon website for some current sales.

If your Norton subscription has expired and you'd like to upgrade, that might be the least expensive way to go.  Just buy a new product for NIS or N360 and upgrade to the latest version from Support | New Version Check on the main GUI - assuming the Symantec link doesn't automatically download the latest 21.x (2014) installer for your Norton product in the first place.

Before re-installing your Norton product you should wipe all traces of your ZoneAlarm software off your system by uninstalling from the Control Panel (Add Remove Programs or Programs and Features), re-booting, and running the ZoneAlarm removal tool.  Search for the phrase "removal tool" on the ZoneAlarm Support site here for a link to the correct version.

You might also want to run the Norton Removal Tool before installing any new Norton product just for good measure to ensure your old NAV installation is wiped off your system as well.

EDIT:

... and if you want to check the status of your current NAV subscription, you can log in at www.mynortonaccount.com (assuming you created a user account when you first installed NAV).  You should be able to view your product (registration) key in your profile and re-download NAV if your NAV subscription hasn't expired yet.

Thank you imacri.... I think that is what I will do. I do have an account and it says my subscription is expired. The renewal email I received today says my subscription expires today. I am going to go with the Norton 360. Thanks for the idea and help.

Hi richocki:

Glad to help.  Post back if you run into any problems.

Retail stores often put N360 on sale around Christmas, so if you see a good sale just buy the boxed CD and leave it on the shelf.  When your N360 reaches 1 day remaining to expiry next October 2014, you can use the product key from the boxed CD to renew your subscription for another full year without having to re-install your N360 software or interrupt your protection.

User may enroll or cancel Automatic Renewal & remove payment info at anytime.

Update Norton account settings > https://support.norton.com/current/solutions/v52531049

Also, be sure you go into your Norton Account and make sure you have disabled the Automatic Renewal for your current subscription or you will be charged the renewal fee anyway.

Also, removing your billing information will ensure there are no mistakes.

Yes, if you buy a retail version of Norton Security Premium, you can simply open your existing Norton Premium program, click the "Renew" link at the bottom of the window and select "I have a key or product code to enter."  Then just enter the new product key.  You should wait until only a day or two remains on your current subscription, as doing this will remove any time left from that subscription and replace it with 366 days.  You can call support to reinstate lost days, but it is just easier to wait and enter your new key as your old subscription is about to lapse.

While you should be able to activate the new subscription on all devices from your Norton account, I have found that this process often fails to work.  So you may have to enter the new key separately on each device manually.
