Hello,
I have Norton 360 (25.1.9816 (build 25.1.9816.0)) on my laptop and created a rescue disk which seems to work OK, … however :
In rescue disk tutorial the following is mentioned : If your computer is connected to the Internet, click Update VPS to ensure that Norton Rescue Disk uses the latest virus definitions.
I don’t see where to click ? There seems not button or link ? Any suggestions ?
Thanks !
Yeah, I’m only seeing VPS version: 25021000
If you’re seeing VPS version: 25021000
Maybe, try tomorrow to see what’s what tomorrow.
25.1.9816 (build 25.1.9816.0)
Hi,
Thanks for confirming my find.
I tried again today (Feb 11th), but still seeing the VPS version 25020904 from when the rescue disk was created. Also did a virus scan, but that did not trigger any update.
Computer is on the LAN/internet, also lite browser is working.
I tried to play around with Icarus.exe from CLI, but it expects some arguments that I don’t have.
I think the absence of any update utility makes the rescue disk a bit useless. I don’t see myself rebuilding a rescue disk every few days.
Hope someone still comes up with something.
Best regards,
Hi there,
Thanks for the pointer…
I built me an AVAST rescue disk (on another PC) and used it on my PC.
I see the “update vps” button, but when I click it it throws me an error with return code 45005.
So still no real solution at my end.
Best regards
Avast Rescue Disk pic was not meant as a solution for Norton Rescue Disk.
Update VPS with Norton documentation may be a carry over from Avast documentation.
