Hello, when Norton Safe Email categorizes an email as “safe” and I want to report a mistake, I understand that I should categorize it as “NORTON:REVIEW.” This works on Gmail, but does it work on Outlook (PWA)? I never get any feedback on Outlook.

LIONEL_A:
Hello, when Norton Safe Email categorizes an email as “safe” and I want to report a mistake, I understand that I should categorize it as “NORTON:REVIEW.” This works on Gmail, but does it work on Outlook (PWA)? I never get any feedback on Outlook.
Hello @LIONEL_A
No, the NORTON:REVIEW system does not work properly on Outlook (PWA).
While Gmail uses a flexible, label-based architecture that lets Norton sync and read custom tag adjustments seamlessly, Outlook PWA relies on traditional folders and categories. Because Outlook’s synchronization protocol behaves differently, your classification updates are often lost or ignored, leaving you with zero feedback.
To report a false negative (a dangerous email marked “safe”) when using Outlook PWA, you must use alternative submission methods.
Alternative 1: Use the Norton Submission Portal (Recommended)
This is the most reliable way to get an email reviewed by Norton analysts.
Open the email inside Outlook PWA.
Click the More actions (three dots) menu in the upper-right corner of the email panel.
Select Download to save the message as an .eml file to your computer.
Navigate to the official Norton Submission Portal .
Open the False negative form.
Upload your saved .eml file, enter your email address, and hit Submit .
Alternative 2: Report via Email Forwarding
If you prefer not to use the web portal, you can manually forward the threat data:
Click More actions (three dots) on the email.
Choose View > View message details .
Copy all text from the headers window.
Paste the text into a new email and send it directly to spam@norton.com .
Here is how to configure Outlook’s native junk filters to run alongside Norton Safe Email to maximize your protection.
Step 1: Access Outlook Junk Email Settings
Open Outlook PWA .
Click the Settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.
Select Mail from the left sidebar.
Click on Junk email in the center panel.
Step 2: Choose Your Filtering Strictness
Scroll down to the Filters section at the bottom of the page. You have two choices:
Standard Level (Default): Leave both filter boxes unchecked. Outlook will catch obvious spam, while Norton handles advanced phishing.
Strict Level (Recommended for high spam): Check the box for “Only trust email from addresses in my Safe senders and domains list and Safe mailing lists.”
Warning: This moves everything else to Junk, so check your Junk folder daily.
Step 3: Block Persistent Offenders
If specific spam emails keep bypassing Norton:
Under the Blocked senders and domains section, click + Add .
Type the spammer’s email address or entire domain (e.g., spammerdomain.com).
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Step 4: Ensure Norton is Whitelisted
To prevent Outlook from accidentally blocking Norton’s own system alerts:
Scroll to the Safe senders and domains section.
Click + Add .
Type norton.com and press Enter.
Click Save .

Caveat: I do not run Outlook PWA
