Norton Safe Web and Google Safe Browsing return different results for a page. Norton says it's a-ok and Google says it's very, very bad. Google seems to have a detailed explanation and diagnostics, while Norton seems rather generic and over simplistic. Which security product do I trust? How can I trust that the Norton product I am paying for is giving me accurate information?

Hi Adam2009,
Always trust the site rating service with the most dire rating. Sites are checked periodically, and the ratings only reflect what was found at the site at the time it was tested. Google's report shows the site was checked in the last few days, so obviously the site has been compromised since the time it was last checked by Norton. Websites are never static, and can be hacked at any time, so always error on the side of caution and assume that bad ratings are accurate, and that good ratings may no longer be valid. These ratings are intended to give you an idea of the general safety of a site over time - they cannot guarantee that a site will be safe at the time that you actually visit it. All ratings services are subject to this limitation, so it is not a matter of Google or Norton being more reliable - they are both very good - it is a matter of Google in this case having more recent information about this particular site.
