I have used Microsoft Office Live to create my website. I am trying to verify its status on Google search so it gets the 'green tick'. However I'm being told to paste my given authentication code into my website's root folder.
In the Microsoft Office Live Community I've been told that I can't do this and if Norton supports verification through a 'meta tag' then I can paste that into the home page of my site.
Has anyone been down this road before and what can I do to get my website to be seen as 'safe' on a Google search results page?
As I explained to those in the MS Office Live Community - I have no shame in saying that I easily get lost in computer jargon so if you do have a solution, explain like you're explaining to a 12 year old!
As of now, the verification of site ownership is as you explained: html authentication code placed in the root folder. Meta tags currently will not serve the purpose.
However, I shall try to bring your issue to the attention of someone working with Safe Web for assistance.
And this is the advice I received from the Microsoft Office Live Community website:
Alison, you can't place code (file) in your root directory. You have to see if Norton supports verification through "meta tags". If so, then there is a process where you can add meta tags to your home page for the verification.
You need to ask Norton if they support verification through the use of a meta tag. If they don't, then you can't use it with OfficeLive
I am unable to verify my site as well. I use Microsoft Office Live. My site is www.circlemotorsports.com and I have added the coding sent by Norton into my Meta Tags on my home page, unsure if that is needed but I have done that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to get my site that wonderful green check mark! Thank you so much!
I believe I still need it verified and analized, however I cant seem to get that to go through with Norton Web Safe. I keep trying and have waited and waited a few hours still wont verify my site. I guess I wait for Norton member to verify it for me? Thank you.
Please can you help me verify andweddings.co.uk and my husbands web site andyrogersltd.co.uk. (both office live websites) I have added the verification code to the meta tag description but it still will not verify. Thanks Sara
I have seen the board for adding the verification as a meta tag using Office Live. I added the code but cannot verify my site. Do I just copy and paste the code as I have received it? My site is www.jomeza.com
