Norton Safe web lite toolbar

Hi..

Using Norton antivirus 2011 ,on windows 7 64bit laptop.I downloaded and installed the above toolbar(version 1.2.0) ,but firefox 5 says the toolbar is incompatible?.Yet on my desktop I use NIS 2011 and the toolbar works.Getting really confused here.Is the toolbar in NIS 2011 different to the lite toolbar somehow?

The toolbar is part of Norton Internet Security, but is not included with Norton Antivirus.

I don't know if Safe Web Lite is at the same compatibility level as the NIS 2011 toolbar, but I will try to find out for you.

I sure hope its being updated the same as NIS toolbar ,especially with firefoxes new builds "update" ,otherwise its pretty much useless (if you use firefox) and norton should update the page to reflect its not entirely compatible with new firefox builds.

Well this is disappointing.!!.I have norton av 2011 set to show special offers etc.Today when I switched on my laptop ,i had a pop up saying that norton safe web lite toolbar is free for norton av users.Great i thought....symantec must have been working on it and have now fixed the toolbar incompatibilities.With much anticipation i downloaded and installed.Nothing has changed.It still doesnt ...work with current (version 5) firefox.Really disappointing ,especially as the web site says its compatible with firefox .......

Hello ellison,

 

I have been able to reproduce your issue.  I re-imaged my test computer and then installed NAV 2011 followed by Safe Web Lite.

 

I can confirm that the current Safe Web Lite Toolbar (1.2.0) is incompatible with FF5.

 

Hang in there while I try to get an authoritative answer.

I will hang in there.Im enjoying using norton at the moment ,and NIS is on 2 machines ,while I have the av on my laptop (i like to use a different firewall).I dont think ill change the av anytime soon :smileywink:
