Norton Security for iPhone is useless

We all know that iPhones come with a built-in Find My Phone App. We all use it.

So, when I learned that Norton Security could also be used for IOS (iPhones/iPads) I jumped at getting it installed. Fooled me when I see that all that is installed on an IOS is a "Find My Phone" app from Norton. What gives?

I love the protection from viruses and attacks that I get on my laptops with Norton Security, but this misnomer for IOS is a joke. Please do us all fools a favor and call the Norton IOS app for what it is, a find my phone app. It does not do scans, it does not protect our IOS devices against virus or other attacks.

Hopefully in the near future, Norton will get its act straight and give us IOS users a real virus protection. Until then, I just deleted the Norton find my phone app from my iPhone.

Most searches indicate that IOS is designed with sandboxing, so the OS and other apps are isolated from each other. This protects the device from malware. Many argue there is no need for anti virus on these devices. And it is difficult if not impossible to find an actual anti malware app for IOS.

The information on what is provided by NMS for IOS devices is located down the NMS web site page by clicking on the IOS tab. It shows there what the app will do.
