I've used Norton Internet Security on my Windows computer since 2009. I recently got a Mac laptop and initially installed Eset Cyber Security Pro on it. It worked well but I'm not a fan of its interface so this weekend, I decided to trial the new Norton Security product for Mac. The result was that in two days, Norton Security crashed the Mac four times, forcing a reboot every time. I don't think I've had a single crash on the laptop until Norton Security was installed. I will say the problem seems to caused by a bad interaction between Norton Security and a torrent client like uTorrent. I believe NS for Mac has trouble handling the thousands of incoming and outgoing connection requests generated by a torrent client - the network activity log had over 20,000 entries after an hour running the torrent client. While torrent clients can be challenging for security software, it's not an impossible usage scenario. My personal experience with Norton Internet Security for Windows has been that Norton Internet Security worked seamlessly with torrent clients yet for whatever reason, Norton Security for Mac chokes and crashes. I liked the new 2015 Norton interface but I can't have the Mac crashing once or twice every day. I've uninstalled Norton Security for Mac and reluctantly gone back to Eset. I really do hope Norton stabilizes the Mac client so that it's on parity with its Windows counterpart.
