Last night, the Norton safe search green check marks that appeared on Google searches next to web sites for the past 2 years are now missing. However, the green check marks do appear when I perform searches from the Norton Safe Search home page.
Same thing on FIREFOX 132.0 (64-bit) - Norton killed the checkmarks even using THEIR search pages (fyi, Norton never showed any green checkmarks if I used Google on a firefox browser. Now I have zero checkmarks.
What Norton extensions installed/enabled + version?
Norton Safe Web? YES VER 3.23.0.21
Norton Safe Search? YES VER 3.23.0.20
Norton Home Page? YES VER 3.23.0.14
For the record, I have always had “green check marks” on Chrome. I have had this feature for at least 10 years. In fact on a new laptop, I installed Norton 360 and enable all browser extensions. On Chrome, the “green checks marks” are displayed and operate as expected.
So the real question is: Why and how would Norton trigger such a change to remove green check marks? Could it be because:
Not all extension are installed on all enabled browsers on PC? My example is I cannot install Norton Home page on Norton Private Browser.
A Norton product update caused the issue.
A Google Chrome browser setup caused the issue.

my Chrome results (above) are with Norton Safe Web v3.23.0.21 + Norton Safe Search v3.23.0.20
I’ll need to test Norton Home Page on Norton Private Browser.
Norton extensions are standalone. I’m Norton 360 v24.10.9535. I’m seeing search results annotations on Chrome.
Maybe, try a new default Chrome profile.
~ as test:
called https://search.norton.com/protect from Norton Private Browser.
by my read:
Protect your searches with Norton Safe Search reads like notice for Norton Safe Web users that the Norton Safe Web extension will stop providing the ratings to all search engines except for Norton Safe Search.
And to continue seeing site ratings, Norton Safe Web users will need to install the Norton Safe Search extension.
by my read:
regardless of whether Norton Safe Web users have Norton Safe Search installed now or not
Yes, BJM I got the same message that you did concerning extension will only provide ratings for Norton Safe Search.
I ONLY WISH NORTON WOULD HAVE PROVIDED ADVANCE NOTICE versus having users like me suffering through the analysis. They need BETTER COMMUNICATION.
I did try adding a new Chrome profile like you suggested by it did not work. I wonder what their migration strategy is for users that still see the green check boxes on Chrome???
the green check marks are missing for me as well on Chrome and Firefox. the new norton UI is confusing as hell. revert this back. the developers clearly did not know what they were doing with these changes and messed everything up
Re Norton Safe Web and the Green Checkmarks on any browser. When the checkmarks do choose to appear, they are incomplete, different from the past. When you hover over the mark, it shows the address at top okay, then the “Safe” when safe okay, continuing down it does NOT show the "threats:0 that is missing is not okay, and below that it shows “Norton” in the bottom left corner okay, but in the bottom right corner should be a link to view the “FULL REPORT” but that is missing also not okay. Either Norton knows but hasn’t fixed this problem or Norton checkmarks were hi-jacked or hacked – and this is the case with Firefox and MS Edge browsers. (I tried Chrome and the green checkmarks wouldn’t work so I don’t know what the checkmark search icon looked like.)
Protect your searches with Norton Safe Search is notice for Norton Safe Web users that the Norton Safe Web extension will stop providing the ratings to all search engines except for Norton Safe Search.
To continue seeing site ratings, Norton Safe Web users will need to install the Norton Safe Search extension.
I have all three extensions on the Edge browser: Safe Web, Home Page & Safe Search. I just miss the link to the report page. It was an easy way to check out a url quickly, without opening https://safeweb.norton.com/ in another tab.
