I have a temp folder under "My Pictures" which contains .jpg files. Whenever I add new files, and look at the folder using Windows explorer, a hang occurs from 20-40 sec. I think the problem has to do with the backup facility marking the thumbnail with the '>>' marker (vs. a check mark for backed up files-which I think Norton calls the backup status overlays).
Is this a known problem? I can live without the backup status overlay indicator.
I do believe your problem may not have anything to do with Norton.
What happens when you do not add new files and first open (view) the Temp folder with Windows Explorer? Do you still get a "hang"? I have always had a delay on my XP system (with only 512 MB Ram) and the more photos I add, the longer it "hangs". It takes a while to populate all the photos, so it may not be the marking for backup that is slowing it down.
On my Win 7 system with 8 gig of Ram mine still takes a bit longer to populate in Win Explorere than it does if I got directly to the Library Picture files and look at them that way!
