Norton security suite won't open

I have the comcast/xfininty version of norton Security Suite. all of a sudden it won't open, it will for a second then closes out. If i right click the icon on the tool bar i can run the update, quick scan and all that and it looks to be working (little green checkmark) but it will not open. I've unistalled frpm add remove programs and ran the removal tool and reinstalled it fresh twice and it still won't open. Thanks in advance

good luck getting it to work. i have had them do everything a regular associate can do and it still don't work.

Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? You can do that by navigating to your Device Manager, then to your Video or Graphics adapter and updating it from there. You mentioned that you can run Live Update and Scans, it's just won't open the main user interface, this means you have the program but just wouldn't show up.

Try that and see if it works.

What concerns me is that Norton does not appear to be running as an application in the Task manager. Wouldn't that indicate that the program is not running?

N360 appears as a running service. But nothing changes, that I can see, when I attempt to open the Norton Security Suite.

If you have tried updating several times and still nothing's working, I will suggest that you run the Norton Removal Tool using this link :  http://us.norton.com/support/redirects/redirect.jsp?type=nrt . Then you will have to delete all the Norton items in the registry, the ones under Hkey_Local_Machine/Software and  Hkey_Current_User/Software. Make sure to backup your registry first by clickin on File, Export and save it somewhere on your C drive. Restart the PC. After that remove all the Norton folders under C:\Program Files (XP), C:\Program Data (Win Vista and 7). Then you can download and install Norton Security Suite from xfinity.com/norton. By doing these steps, you can make sure that you have a clean install of your Norton program. Once the Norton program is installed, make sure to run LiveUpdate, and download every possible updates there is, until a message that says "No Updates Found" comes up.

Hi Son-Gohan,

Please tell us how long you have had NSS installed on your system.  If you have just recently installed it and thi sis happening, did youhave any other antivirus product installed prior to NSS?  If so which product and did you not only remove, but run the removal tool for that product prior to installing NSS?  If not,let us knwowhich other product it was and we'll asssist you getting that cleaned up.  Left overs from the prevous AV could be causing a conflict with Norton.

 

Also do you now or have you had any other security type programs insatlled  which run in real time?  Such as MBAM or SAS Pro (free versions ar OK) or perhopa Spybit S & D with the Tea-Timer function enabled.?
